The Indonesian Physiotherapy Association (IPA) was established on June 10, 1968. Internationally, it is recognized as the official representative organization for the physiotherapy profession in Indonesia. Domestically, it is known as Ikatan Fisioterapi Indonesia (IFI) in Bahasa Indonesia.
IPA’s membership spans across Indonesia—from the eastern to the western regions—structured into zones that are further divided into regional branches, with each region representing multiple cities. At the grassroots level, commissariats represent individual physiotherapists in their respective workplaces. As of 2025, IPA has a membership base of 22,000 physiotherapists, with 14,976 physiotherapists registered nationally.
